Piano Quintet No. 3

  1. Removing the rough edges from the synthesization, a good, solid piece of music. Dramatic, nice melodies (I especially liked the slow theme, starting around 4:22), fair balance of the ensemble. Not much to complain about at all.
Also: your 4th and 8th symphonies are pretty darn fine as well, same with the 11th. I do hope your music gets some actual performances some day. Fine as is, sure, but hardly adequate.

    1. I rarely get any feedback good or bad on my works, so yours is much appreciated. I'm glad you're able to see past the synthesization! I write for what is possible on authentic instruments, but I'm grateful I have a way to hear my compositions, if even artificially. I compose with staff and notation, not on a DAWS. Alas, the possibility of a 'live' performance of any of my works is remote. But one can never tell what may happen...

Piano Quartet No. 3 is one of my favorite works. It represents some of the best of whatever talent and craftsmanship I have. Thanks again!

    2. It's the effort that counts, as I always say. Criticizing from personal taste, or, on some lack of innate quality, is one thing. But to criticize on potentially lackluster means, is an entirely different one. I doubt you'll deny here, that standing in the latter camp, is hardly fair in the slightest.
I hope, at least, some of your chamber works get a performance/recording one day. Especially the string quartets. To my ear, they suffer the worst from synthesization, and even the more fancy VST's tend to still sound thin.
All the best, no matter what!
